Deputy PM: No more stimulus measures this year

    BANGKOK,28 September 2016(NNT) – Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak on Wednesday urged executives of the Ministry of Finance to expedite reform. He also confirmed that there is no need to impose more measures to stimulate the economy.

    The deputy PM instructed the Fiscal Policy Office to be the main agency in laying out fiscal policies such as the policy to help senior people. As for the State Enterprise Policy Office, Mr. Somkid asked the office to reform state enterprises for higher efficiency and appoint suitably qualified people as members of state enterprise boards.

    The deputy premier also instructed three tax collection departments to adjust tax structures so that the government would collect taxes more efficiently.

    Mr. Somkid added that he had a positive outlook for the Thai export sector and urged government agencies and entrepreneurs to cooperate in developing Thai products for export. He expressed his confidence that the Thai economy would expand by more than 3% this year.
